Sorry, inappropriately sexualized Dakota Fanning, as far as I'm concerned, if you ain't got a pet dinosaur, you ain't shit. The Nick & Norah guy is doing it, which is probably a good sign. As Jon Favreau showed, it's better to have someone who gets the characters, the humor, and the relationships rather than someone who is a good "action" director (since that usually means they shake the camera lot, these days). So, fan-casting?

I'm calling Amanda Seyfried as Karolina and Leighton Meester as Gert. I realize Gert should be more dumpy than glamorous, but c'mon, Meester is awesome, and awesomeness trumps looks. It's just like how Ellen Page in drag would be better than Shia LeBeouf in any given role. Any. Given. Role.

My happiness is more reliant on them using Vaughn for the screenplay... and maybe casting Dianna Agron as Karolina (I'm flexible).

Pretty excited! And I'm pretty firm in my need for Gert to be cast with a chubby actress (I mean, hello, there's plenty of chubby actresses waiting for a part like that!) but Meester can be acceptable. I think she's cute.

I do think that Shia LeBeouf in drag playing Ellen Page would beat Ellen Page playing Ellen Page.

I do also think that people are just blinded by the hotness that is Ellen Page to actually measure her objective talent.
