Apparently a lot of people do ship Clark/Diana. Bruce Timm complains in the Justice League Unlimited DVDs about fans pestering him about putting those two together constantly, where he feels Clark/Lois is inviolate. The Batman/Diana stuff in JLU was a direct response to that, to at least nod in the direction of pairing Diana off with someone else and get some of the shippers to back off Clark/Diana.
