Also, unlike the 70's where the private detective had a special status in TV culture up there with cops and doctors, you are acutely aware in every single scene how wildly extralegal all the stuff these guys are doing is. They keep talking about "bringing this guy down" so he'll "go to prison", without ever addressing how they're absolutely destroying any chance that the real cops can make a legit case against the guy.

And yeah, Bosley in the field kicking ass and saving Angels and going through doors first kind of invalidates the whole premise. He's also a a terrrible actor.
