Just for clarification... I didn't say OT3 was unsavory. I said the bar scene, which some might have found hot, came across as unsavory to me. In a perfect fantasy, having sex with a stranger in a bar might be great. But when I read a story that includes characters that are "real" to me, I guess I have a different reaction.

The bar scene was unsavory to me because it was a total stranger who could have just banged a group of D'Haran soldiers before catching Cara's eye. (Not an issue for everyone, in real life or fiction, but for me - yes.) Also, the suggested physical abuse (might be too harsh of a word) and Cara's apathy for the woman were not appealing to me. Is it true to Cara's character? Yes, the show established her picking up a stranger (male) at a tavern.

But just to be clear, while I don't want to read OT3, I would not call it "unsavory" or take away from those who like it. I just skip over those stories. Much the same as I skip over stories where the sexual violence/abuse goes beyond my threshold of enjoyment. But anyway, I digress.

If I sound down on the author or story, I don't mean to. I guess I just enjoyed the original set up so much (Cara waking up and finding herself married to Kahlan and living a gentler life) that I would have liked the story to remain rooted there. For it to be totally AU. It wasn't, and the sequel is what it is, and I'll keep reading.
