- Chloe's anger, hurt and sense of betrayal over the mindwipe. And the fact that all those memory potholes would have left her as confused and lost as Braniac's memory wipe. You dealt with that when the show completely skirted any ramifications.
- Putting her feelings for Jimmy in their proper place-- a friendship that should have remained a friendship rather than spiraling into the misguided marriage from hell.
- TWO epic battles between Clark and Doomsday/Davis --- with DD pretty much handing Clark his ass!
- Chloe's healing powers are back, used once to revive Clark (who amusingly calls out Lana's name ... with Lois and Chloe there --- oops)and once to speed Davis's healing. It seems Chloe is earth's only contribution to the Kryptonian medical kit.
- Keeping the characters IN CHARACTER! No 180-degree psycho lightswitch. Clark's well-meaning intentions: "I wasted so much time trying to be your guardian instead of your friend." "The day I make that choice [to kill Davis] is the day I go from savior to tyrant." Davis's horror at his alter ego ("What kind of monster am I that even death won't have me?"), his honesty (“I must be a terrible person to be feeling the way I am about your breakup."), his innate decency (CHOOSING not to kill during the second battle, the anger and protectiveness he feels toward the victimized and the wounded) and his utter devotion to Chloe, yet sense of unworthiness in his present state. Chloe's love and commitment to both Clark AND Davis, her unflinching heroism and her acknowledgment of the toll the Lana and Clark funhouse ride took ("If you saw my diary, you’d be able to track the sparkle-ink usage by what height the Clark-and-Lana-coaster was at.”)
- You even gave a voice to Doomsday, relishing the sense of enjoyment and release when he unleashes his chaotic rage. A risky move --- and it works! Very original!
- Clark and Chloe express their love for each other before physically separating forever.
- Chloe gets a life, a real fulfilling life --not a Stepford wife, not a Chloe-bot, not Clark or Davis's self-sacrificing, self-denying appendage.
- The redemption story that the Chloe and Davis fans craved! Yes!!!! Not an easy magic wand waving redemption either. A really novel angle --- Davis must cope forever with a diminished beast within. His life will be an ongoing twelve- step program of faith, grief, remorse, penance, hard work, hope, forgiveness, happiness and love. and Chloe will be by his side every step of the way.
- And if nothing else in this AU tale worked---and for me EVERYTHING you wrote worked --- you gave us the MOST BEAUTIFUL, TENDER ENDING!!!!!!!!
He brushed the hair away from her ear, tilted his head down, and whispered the reasons he loved her until he was drifting asleep, beyond the reach of nightmares.
