I had the same thing come up in the story I've been writing (in which Lian has been portrayed as an adult struggling with emotional problems). I think the nebulous finality of death in the DC Universe would ultimately do a number on poor little Lian. Why wouldn't she think everyone was coming back? Hadn't most of the people she's lost?
You obviously made some good editing choices, since your story has hit home with so many of us.
